My first job was as a “bar boy” at Glen Oak Country Club in suburban Chicago. What was your first job?Seems to me, #communitybanks and #creditunions could package a product around the “first job” (targeted to Mom/Dad/offspring) - direct deposit, checking, savings, debit or prepaid credit. What else? How about auto transfer to savings to help “a kid” sock away an emergency fund? How about local shopping or dining discounts? Maybe a referral program? All mobile? Employee Beware!If you happen to see a job listing as a Secret Shopper for Shopper Post LLC (https://lnkd.in/g6mjyxut), DO NOT apply!I started working for them as an Independent contractor in June 2023. In July of 2023 (after my last review of an item) I started making inquiries about when I would get the salary I signed up for (it was a designated amount on a monthly schedule). I emailed my supervisor 3 times, I emailed the careers distro once, and never got a single reply. I tried calling the contact number in the US and "the call cannot be completed as the called party is temporarily unavailable). Meaning: I've never been paid by Shopper Post LLC.I contacted BOLI on the issue and their response was (to paraphrase): "Good Luck with that."I submitted an inquiry to the Federal Labor site and still awaiting a response on that.The TL;DR: I've learned my lesson and I am avidly avoiding any employment opportunities where "independent contractor" is mentioned. Especially, in the "remote" or "work from home" spaces.
